Our Story

Boerman Moving and Storage was founded in 1926 by Howard and Mary Boerman as a family owned ice and coal delivery business serving the western suburbs of Chicago. As customer needs evolved, families began asking for help transporting household goods and appliances. What started as a simple service expansion quickly became the foundation for a trusted full service moving and storage company.

By the 1940s and 1950s, Boerman had fully transitioned into professional residential and commercial moving services, earning a reputation throughout Chicagoland for reliability, careful handling, and personalized service.

In March 2000, Boerman relocated its corporate headquarters to Woodridge, Illinois, operating from a 42,000 square foot facility designed to support both household goods storage and commercial distribution services. In 2018, the warehouse was renovated and expanded to 58,500 square feet, allowing the company to better serve customers throughout Illinois and beyond.

In 2025, Boerman expanded into Wisconsin with the acquisition of JL Moving, establishing a corporate location in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Today, with corporate offices conveniently located in Woodridge, Illinois and Cudahy, Wisconsin, Boerman Moving and Storage proudly serves Chicagoland, Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, and customers across the United States.

Now in its fourth generation of family leadership, Boerman Moving and Storage celebrates 100 years in business in 2026. What began as a small family operation has grown into a regional moving and storage company built on trust, hard work, and a commitment to serving families and businesses for generations.
