Louis Boerman may just be the most adorable staff member at Boerman Moving and Storage. The two-year-old boy can typically be found snoozing by doors, greeting employees, and searching for treats and rubs.
Tell me about yourself. What makes you you?
I’m super chill for a two-year-old Golden Retriever. They sent me to service dog school, but let’s be honest, I don’t really think I needed it. Not many young puppies stay in their yards when a squirrel runs by. I like to think I am self taught.
Tell me about your family.
I was adopted when I was very little. My hooman mom and dad were friends with my fur mom’s parents. My hoomans met me as soon as I was born and brought me home when I was very little. I go to work every day with my hooman mom and dad. I have two hooman siblings, a curly-headed girl who dances around the house all the time and a boy who has a lot of hooman friends over a lot.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I love swimming, chasing balls (but not really bringing them back), and resting my head in your lap while you pet me is pretty fluffing great too.
What do you do when you’re not at work?
Every Wednesday and Friday morning during the summer, I went to water ski practice with my hooman siblings and hung out by the rope dock. One time they had me be in the ski show. They pretended one of the hoomans had turned into a dog, and they did a voiceover during the show while I sat there on the dock. It was really tempting to get into the water.
What do you do for Boerman?
I’m an emotional support dog. I mostly walk around and get treats from all of the people who keep them at their desk for me. I also lay in a spot where I can see who’s coming in to protect everybody; mostly, I just bark. I like to talk, but I really wouldn’t hurt anybody.
How did you get your start here? How long have you been working for Boerman?
I’ve been working here for just over two years. I started pretty shortly after moving to the area with my family. My dad didn’t really want a furry kid, but now he takes me to work with him every day.
What’s your favorite memory of working at Boerman?
One day my dad took me outside to check on a truck; my mom has me tracked like an ex-felon, so when her tracker went off, she went fluffing crazy, running around the warehouse looking for me. But I was just sleeping outside by Ty, the sales guy. My mom looked fluffing crazy, a real helicopter hooman.
What do you like most about your job/working for Boerman?
Definitely all of the treat-os. Don’t tell anyone, but some of those girls slip me real food every once in a while.
