How to declutter your home.
Decluttering before moving is the best way to save money on your move! You will be able to lower the price of transportation, spend less on packing supplies, and saving the planet since you will have less to pack which means less packing supplies.
Deciding which items you should toss and which to get rid of can be extremely difficult especially when it comes to certain items that hold a certain memory to them and telling yourself you want to keep the items just in case. But asking yourself a list of questions might make your decisions easier.
- Do I really need this?
- Is this in good condition?
- Is it a repurchase?
- How often do I use this?
- Is it worth the space it is taking up?
- Do I have multiple of these items?
- How big of a hassle is it to move this?
- Does this item have sentimental value?
Here are some common items to get rid of when packing for your move:
- Worn out shoes
- Expired medicines and vitamins
- Old bath products, lotions, perfumes, and makeup
- Trash in your junk drawer (throw out all of those takeout menus and miscellaneous coupons!)
